In response to the challenge issued by Port Washington State Bank, we are on our way with the first donation.
The latest photo shows the many layers of paint removed, revealing the Chicago pink brick.
Note the middle section showing a repair made sometime over the more than hundred year history.
Midwest Restoration suggested that although a repair can indicate a historical timeline. However, replacing with same style and color brick restores the original integrity.
The 1912 Fire House is an ideal example of function which was likely the primary goal of construction in a rural farming community during the early 20th century.
As the building stands today, we are given insight into lifestyles of the time. A time that speaks to the beauty of practicality.
Along with housing documents, photos and artifacts relative to the area, the restored structure stands for endurance, longevity and progress.
